Do you remember that time when I ventured to the outdoors to use the bathroom at Mojo's coffeehouse on Magazine street. I climbed into that tiny latrine with the hope that a lizard would not crawl up my leg while spending some quality time with Lou. No? Ok, then read this.
Welcome back. In a new neighborhood with a new chain, Mojo has moved to the Freret Street Neighborhood. We recently moved near this area and I was really excited to find that Mojo was opening up across the Donut and Po'boy Shop across the street (no lie.) I love Mojo Coffeehouse because they are nice, they are open forever, and they don't come with a pretentious attitude when you accidentally use a size that is frequented at Starbucks. They are just happy that you are there and I feel the same way. Mojo's on Magazine street comes with the frequent New Orleans flair. It is air conditioned by the open doors and windows with multiple ceiling fans and an entire wall is covered with readable books and board games. They also have tons of jars filled with tea leaves and coffee beans. Some birds might walk into the establishment and no one blinks an eye. The one on Freret Street is brand new. It opened on Monday and I am thrilled to have it down the street.
Anyone who knows me know that I am slightly addicted to coffee. In fact, don't really try to hold a legitimate conversation with me in the morning until I have had a bit of caffeine in me. It has some great qualities to it and one quality that makes me frequent my dearest, Lou. After spending a few hours in the coffeehouse, I walk back to the bathroom to find some upgrades. First, it's indoors! A bit more spacious and people of all shapes and sizes can actually fit into it. The walls keep to the burnt orange color that covers the entire coffee shop and its really clean. (Again, brand new place.) Unfortunately, this Lou seems to have a fairy problem. Fairies have invaded the establishment and employees are not allowed to use the paper receptacles. So, get your own paper from either on top of the bin or on top of the toilet. Fairies haven't stopped the upgrade to hands free foam soap, though, and for that, I show mad respect.

Given that this places has only been open a week, I am going to give it some time before the typical New Orleans flair shows up in the Lou. The bumper stickers, love notes, and hopefully some weird art will end up there eventually. I just hope that they don't get rid of the fairies.
