Almost every Friday, I have a standing meeting at LakeviewBrew in, well, Lakeview. It’s a local coffee shop that has homemade sweets, a
nice breakfast menu, and good caffeinated beverages. If you want a good
get-away off the beaten track, you can hibernate here.
So, of course, I have gotten to know this bathroom on the
regular. It is your basic restroom with some nice art on the walls and a plant
to keep you company. The other day, however, I was greeted by new technology:
hands free flushing by the wave-motion. I am sure that all of you have
experienced the towel machine that dispenses paper products just a wave of the
hand. Now, imagine that you do this in front a sensor by your potty. You wave
goodbye and it flushes the toilet. These sensors exist in the Louis Armstrong
airport, but only to change the plastic wrapping that protects dear Lou.
Toilets in many places already had a sensor attached to the actual commode.
This sensor though is attached to the wall. No need to buy a new toilet, they
just bought a sensor for the wall. It’s almost like when you are finished you signal
a “see you later” to the bathroom and the toilet will to the rest. Next thing
you know there will be wave motions doors!
